The demand for Chinese visas has grown rapidly in recent years. To provide a better service for visa applicants, the Chinese Embassy in London and the Consulate General in Manchester, drawing on the practice of some other countries, decided to introduce a Chinese Visa Application Service Centre (CVASC) respectively in June 2008 and in July 2009. CVASC is responsible for receiving visa applications for visit to mainland China from ordinary passport holders who are UK citizens and citizens of other countries possessing UK permanent residence or work permits, collecting visa fees on behalf of the Chinese Embassy and the Consulate General and returning processed visa applications.
